NecroCore Devlog


Hello!

Introduction:

My name is Mikey, and i'm the main developer/ creative director for NecroCore. I figured it'd be a great idea to just sort of log my experiences and updates with NecroCore moving forward so let me introduce myself. I'm Mikey and i've been working with a small handful of talented people on the project. NecroCore was my senior capstone at the University of Texas at Dallas, and has also been a bit of a passion project of mine. So far it's been in development for about a semester, and it's a project I plan to keep working on moving forward.

What is the Game?:

NecroCore is a rogue-like first person shooter that aims to bring together elements from old school and modern shooters into the addicting and endless genre of rouge-likes. Currently still in development what's in the game right now is a tutorial/demo level of the game that serves as a base to show off what we've made so far. 

The  Art style:

The style is very much inspired by more cartoonish and colorful cell shaded like art, blended with some love-craftian influence. 

Future Plans: 

Over the summer I plan to keep working on the game and hopefully being able to make consistent updates moving forward. The big two goals I want to tackle of the summer is procedural generated levels and optimization. While I have little experience with procedural generation I'm excited to use the game as a platform to learn something new and interesting. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how procedural generation builds the game into a true rogue-like.
